DSF in the winter semester 2022
The Digital Shopfloor Research Group (DSF) is mainly anchored in the Smart Production Lab with its projects. In the past semester, it once again developed several projects and organized events. The FabLab was opened 10 times for hobbyists.
A number of exercises were carried out in the Smart Lab as part of teaching. In addition, students on the Smart Production & Services specialization in the Master's degree course in International Industrial Management were introduced to topics related to digitalization. Together with the cooperation partner HOERBIGER, a hackathon was also organized and carried out, in which the students dealt with a digitalization problem of the company for 26 hours and developed proposed solutions.
The research group also dealt with the integration of data from various sources in an IoT platform. An energy management system and a condition monitoring solution for a band saw were implemented with the company SIEMENS. The company PANKL was supported in drawing up a specification sheet for the digitalization of powder management in additive manufacturing.
As part of the Smart Lab Insights lecture series this semester, cooperation partners and interested parties were introduced to the topics of skills shortages on the store floor, digital processes and IoT platforms.
The research group also went on a hike together in their free time to chat and exchange ideas in order to strengthen their team spirit.
In the next semester, a number of industrial projects will again be implemented together with students and companies, as well as use cases in the Smart Production Lab.
