DSF in the winter semester 2022

The Digital Shopfloor Research Group (DSF) is mainly anchored in the Smart Production Lab with its projects. In the past semester, this group again worked on several projects and organized events. The FabLab was opened 10 times for hobbyists.
In the context of teaching, several exercises were carried out in the Smart Lab. In addition, the students of the Smart Production & Services specialization in the master's degree program in International Industrial Management were introduced to topics related to digitization. Together with the cooperation partner HOERBIGER, a hackathon was also organized and carried out, in which the students dealt with a digitization problem of the company for 26 hours and developed solution proposals.
Furthermore, the research group dealt with the integration of data from various sources in an IoT platform. With the company SIEMENS, an energy management system and a condition monitoring solution for a band saw were implemented. The company PANKL was supported in setting up a specification for the digitalization of powder management in additive manufacturing.
As part of the Smart Lab Insights lecture series, the topics of skills shortages on the store floor, digital processes and the IoT platform were presented to cooperation partners and interested parties this semester.
To strengthen cohesion, the research group also went on a joint hike in their free time for leisurely gossip and exchanges.
In the next semester, several industrial projects will be implemented together with students and companies, as well as use cases in the Smart Production Lab.
